Hunter's Walkoff Homer gives Twins 3-2 win

The Tigers are in a slide, and they just cannot catch a break. Mike Maroth gave them an excellent performance on the mound, but the Tigers could only match the Twins through 8 innings. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Torii Hunter got the last laugh, hitting a line drive that just barely reached the seats off Jamie Walker.

As of late, the Tigers just can't seem to put together a complete game. On Friday night, the Tigers received yet another excellent performance from Mike Maroth, but the offense didn't provide much support, and in the end, the bullpen couldn't stop the Twins - mainly, Torii Hunter, whose line drive Home Run gave the Tigers their 6th loss in 8 games.

Maroth got a no-decision, but pitched well enough to win. He went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs with 5 strike outs. Al Levine kept the Twins scoreless in the 8th, but Jamie Walker gave up the Home Run to Hunter that ended the game.

On the other side, Kyle Lohse had a solid start, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. J.C. Romero, Juan Rincon and Joe Nathan each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

At the plate, Carlos Guillen blasted a solo Home Run, he also had a double for the Tigers. Ivan Rodriguez, making his return after sitting out two games with inflammation in his wrist, had 2 hits, as did Alex Sanchez. For the Twins, Corey Koskie had a Home Run (his 10th), as did Hunter.

The Tigers, now 6 games below .500, face the Twins again Saturday at 1:15pm, with Gary Knotts going up against former Tiger Seth Greisinger. The game is not televised.
