Tigs top D'Backs 2-1

Johnson dominated once again. No, not the Johnson that stands 6-10 with a nasty slider for the Diamondbacks, but rather the Tigers Jason Johnson, who shut down the Diamondbacks offense for 8 innings on Friday night to give the Tigers their 2nd win in a row. The Tigers alsog got a win despite an excellent pitching performance from opposing starter Brandon Webb.

Some nights Jason Johnson is off, some nights he's on. Well, he was definitely on Friday night. Besides a Luis Gonzalez triple, Johnson didn't allow a hit, as he threw a 1-hitter for 8 innings, giving up 1 run and striking out 5 in the process. He turned the game over to Ugueth Urbina, who closed it out in the 9th for his 11th save.

Diamondbacks starter Brandon Webb was almost as impressive, but didn't quite produce the same results - and took the loss in the process. Webb also went 8 innings, but gave up 2 runs while striking out 4. That extra run was the difference, as Johnson got his 5th win of the year, and Webb fell to 3-8.

The Tigers weren't exactly a power offensively, only managing 4 hits. Dmitri Young had a sacrifice fly in the first, and Omar Infante ended up driving in the game winning run in the 6th when he grounded into a double play, which allowed Carlos Pena to score.

The two teams face again on Saturday at 7:05pm as Casey Fossum goes up against Jeremy Bonderman.
