Chris Steinborn hasn't been considered the top pitcher for the Whitecaps this season. Virgil Vasquez has been the #1 starter, sporting the best record. Cristhian Martinez and Jordan Tata showed plenty of potential down the stretch as well.
But on Thursday night, Steinborn got the biggest win of the season for the Whitecaps.
Steinborn pitched 6 solid innings, giving up a run on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. After that, Anthony Tomey, Kenon Ronz and Chris Homer each pitched an inning of relief to seal the victory.
Steinborn got the win with little offensive support, as Jason Knoedler's 2-run Home Run provided West Michigan's only runs. The team managed just 4 hits, but Knoedler's homer in the 7th proved to be enough to get the victory.
Now the series heads back to West Michigan. Game time is 6:35pm. No starter has been announced, but it is Jordan Tata's turn in the rotation, so it'd be a good bet to see him taking the mound for the Whitecaps.
