AAA Toledo Mud Hens - 4-1, tied 1st in West division
The Mud Hens were on the winning side of another close game Monday, winning in Charlotte, against the Knights, 5-3. With the win, the Hens improve to 4-1 on the season, but are locked in a first place tie in the IL West Division with Indianapolis and Louisville. Chris Spurling earned his second win of the season, improving his record to 2-0. Gookie Dawkins led the offensive charge for the Hens by going 3-4 with two home runs. Chris Shelton and Ryan Raburn also homered for Toledo who jumped out to a 4-0 lead before weathering a three-run 7th inning for the Knights, and clinching the game with an additional run in the 8th. Jason Karnuth got his first save of the season. The Hens and Knights get back on the field Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. for the second game of the four-game series.

AA Erie SeaWolves - 2-3, tied 4th in Southern division
The SeaWolves started with fireworks in game one of their 3-game series against the Binghamton Mets as Erie leadoff hitter and second baseman Gilberto Mejia hit a triple in the bottom of the first. Next batter up, right fielder David Espinosa, hit a single to bring Mejia home and give Erie a 1-0 lead. The quick start by the SeaWolves didn't rattle the Binghamton Mets pitching staff, which held Erie to one additional run the rest of the way in a 3-2 win by the Mets. Erie came close in the bottom of the ninth, with singles from designate hitter Kurt Airoso and catcher Max St. Pierre, but couldn't push across the tying run. Nate Cornejo (0-1) was the losing pitcher for the SeaWolves who gave up all three runs. Game two of the series kicks off at 6:35 Tuesday night.

High-A Lakeland Tigers - 4-1, 2nd in West division
The Tigers won their fourth in a row with a 6-5 victory against the Clearwater Threshers. Lakeland jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first, which they never surrendered. With two outs in the top of the first, Brent Clevlen hit a triple to drive in the first three runs of the game. The Tigers scored another two runs in the inning on RBI singles by Kirkland and McKinney. The Threshers scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and narrowed the Tigers' lead, but Lakeland's bullpen held on for the victory. Cristhian Martinez (1-0 ) started the game for the Tigers and got the win. He gave up 5 runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts. Eulogio DeLa Cruz came on in the sixth and closed the game out, earning his first save of the season. Clevlen finished the game one for four with the triple and a run scored. Tigers' third baseman Kody Kirkland went three for four with a run and a RBI. Lakeland and Clearwater will play the second game of their series in Clearwater tomorrow night, 6:05 pm.
