Just moments ago, the West Michigan Whitecaps announced that Tony Jaramillo has resigned from his post as the team's hitting coach. The resignation was submitted today (Tuesday), and is effective immediately.
Jaramillo is expected to pursue interests outside of the baseball world, which comes as a bit of a surprise to the organization. Said Detroit Tigers' director of player development Glenn Ezell, "It is unfortunate these circumstances arose. We were confident in his abilities, but Tony did what he felt was necessary at this time."
Currently, no replacement has been named yet. It is possible that someone from the Oneonta or GCL staff could take over, or a roving instructor could assume the job temporarily until a permanent replacement can be found.
