AAA Toledo Mud Hens - NORFOLK 3, TOLEDO 2
20-21, 2nd in West division
The Toledo Mud Hens were defeated in the rubber match of their four-game set with the Norfolk Tide 3-2 on Friday night. After the Tide jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, David Espinosa replied in the second inning, belting his second home run of the season, to tie it 1-1. The Mud Hens, who picked up ten hits in the game, extended their lead to 2-1 in the fourth, when Ryan Ludwick led off the inning with a single and made it to second base after a walk to Mike Hessman. With two on, and no one out, Espinosa singled in Ludwick picking up his second hit and second RBI in the game to put the Mud Hens up 2-1. The Tide picked up a run in sixth to tie it 2-2, before manufacturing a ninth inning rally to snap the tie 3-2, due in part to a series of costly throwing errors made by the Mud Hens. Toledo starter Wil Ledezma was solid through 7-1/3 innings, striking out four batters, walking four and scattering just four hits. Reliever Chris Spurling (0-1) came on in the eighth to replace Ledemza, but took the loss as part of the ninth inning tiebreaker by the Tide. Toledo will now move on to Columbus where they will begin a four game series with the Clippers beginning Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
