Winless Thursday in the Minors (5/25 Recaps)

Toledo and Lakeland weren't able to get their games in because of bad weather, meanwhile neither West Michigan or Erie could pull out a tight game, with the two teams losing by a combined three runs. Sendy Vasquez and Preston Larrison both struggled a bit in their starts, but only Larrison took the loss as the 'Caps offense tied the game up before the 'pen lost the lead in the end.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - PPD: RAIN
21-24, 2nd in West division
The heavy rains and storms postponed Toledo's game with the Bisons on Thursday. The two clubs will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 5:30pm.

AA Erie SeaWolves - HARRISBURG 7, ERIE 5
23-23, 4th in Southern division
Erie was unable to hold on Thursday afternoon, losing to Harrisburg 7-5 and snapping what was a nine-game winning streak. Starter Preston Larrison gave up seven hits, four walks and six earned runs, including a momentum shifting three runs before being replaced with two outs in the sixth inning. The SeaWolves posted a three-run inning of their own, when both Jackson Melian and Tony Giarratano hit RBI singles in the fifth. Chris Maples collected Erie's only other RBI with two outss in the second inning, his eleventh of the season. Erie was unable to take advantage of Harrisburg's mistakes, as the Senators had one throwing error and gave up two unearned runs. Erie now heads home to play Altoona Friday night, starting a 6:35pm.

HiA Lakeland Tigers - PPD: RAIN
27-19, 2nd in West division
Lakeland's game with Vero Beach was rained out on Thursday. It'll be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 5:00pm.

A West Mich. Whitecaps - SW. MICH. 5, W. MICH. 4
26-18, 2nd in Eastern division

The Whitecaps fell behind quickly and had a late inning rally fall short, losing to the Devil Rays 5-4. Sendy Vasquez (2-3), only lasted four innings giving up four runs, three earned on six hits while striking out three and walking two. Jake Baxter (0-3) took the loss, giving up a run in relief on three hits. Mike Hollimon and Cory Middleton both had RBI doubles on the day, and Dusty Ryan and WIll Rhymes drove in the other 'Caps runs. Pedro Cotto was the only other 'Cap with a hit, as he went 2-for-5 with a run scored. The 'Caps play the Devil Rays again the 27th at 7:05.
