Tata Picks Up 2nd Win (5/29 Recaps)

Jordan Tata has shown no ill effects after his rough first start, as he picked up his 2nd win of the season with the 'Hens, turning in another excellent outing. Virgil Vasquez had a solid outing for Erie as well, but got little help from the offense, and Josh Rainwater picked up his first win as a reliever for the 'Caps.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - TOLEDO 3, ROCHESTER 1
25-25, 2nd in West division
Jordan Tata pitched a solid game to lift the Toledo Mud Hens to victory over the visiting Rochester Red Wings 3-1 Monday night. Tata (2-1) went seven innings, including retiring 14 straight Red Wing batters at one point, striking out three, allowing two walks and giving up one run to pick up his second win on the season. After the Red Wings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after two innings, Don Kelly doubled in Tike Redman in the fourth inning to tie it and later scored on Ryan Ludwick's RBI single giving Toledo a 2-1 lead. The Mud Hens picked up an insurance run in the seventh when Josh Phelps' sacrifice fly to center field brought home Ludwick to make it 3-1 with the Mud Hens scoring all three of their runs on just four hits in the game. After Steve Green pitched the eighth inning for Toledo, it was Lee Gardner coming on in the ninth to seal the win and pickup his ninth save on the year for the Mud Hens. The Mud Hens and Red Wings play game three of their series Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Wil Ledezma (2-3, 3.31) takes the mound for Toledo where he'll face J.D. Durbin (3-1, 2.96) of the Red Wings.
