Back to the Winning Ways (6/5 Recaps)

After a rough weekend, it was an excellent Monday down on the farm, as all three clubs in action pulled out victories. Jack Hannahan led the way for Toledo, driving in all four runs, while Jair Jurrjens raised his record to 5-0 win another strong outing.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - TOLEDO 4, BUFFALO 2
27-29, 2nd in West division
Jack Hannahan had four RBI's to lead the Toledo Mud Hens to a 4-2 win against the Buffalo Bisons on Monday night in Buffalo. Hannahan went 3-for-4 in the game including a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a and a two run single in the fifth as Toledo won the opening game of their four game series with the Bisons. Ryan Ludwick picked up a pair of singles along with Tike Redman who knocked his ninth double on the season. Toledo starter Wil Ledezma (3-3) was solid through eight innings, striking out five, allowing just two walks and giving up two runs. Mud Hens reliever Lee Gardner came on in the ninth to seal to win and pick up his 11th save on the season. The two teams resume their series Tuesday night with the Mud Hens sending Chad Durbin (4-3, 2.93) to the mound to face Brian Slocum (0-0, 1.50) of the Bisons.

AA Erie SeaWolves - OFF DAY
27-29, 4th in Southern division
After an off day on Monday, Erie travels to New Hampshire for a Tuesday night game, starting at 6:35pm.

HiA Lakeland Tigers - LAKELAND 9, CLEARWATER 3
29-27, 3rd in West division
Lakeland returned home and picked up a win in style, defeating Clearwater 9-3 on Monday. Jair Jurrjens picked up the win to improve to 5-0 on the year, giving up three runs over seven innings, including three walks and three strikeouts. Jeff Larish had a monster game at the plate, blasting a pair of solo home runs. Clete Thomas also had three hits for Lakeland, and Jeff Frazier had a two run double in the first to start the scoring. Garth McKinney also had a solo blast. The two teams square off again on Tuesday at 7:00pm.

A West Mich. Whitecaps - W. MICH. 6, QUAD CTS. 5
33-22, 2nd in Eastern division

It took the 'Caps eleven innings, but they broke their losing streak; beating the Swing 6-5. Erik Averill (2-3) pitched well, lasting seven innings while allowing four runs, three earned on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Matt Rusch (5-2) got the win, pitching three innings of shut-out relief, allowing only two hits and striking out a batter. Justin Justice won the game for the 'Caps with an RBI single in the eleventh and finished the night 1-for-6 with two RBIs. Matt Joyce also had a very productive night, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk. Pedro Cotto and Mike Hollimon each went 2-for-4 with a stolen base. The 'Caps travel to Fort Wayne the 6th to start a series with the Wizards at 6pm.
