AAA Toledo Mud Hens - TOLEDO 3, ROCHESTER 2
37-33, 2nd in West division
Josh Phelps was the hero of Monday night's game, belting his second home run of the game in the top of the eleventh inning, as the Toledo Mud Hens edged by the Rochester Red Wings 3-2. After the Red Wings took a 1-0 advantage after one inning, the Mud Hens found the scoreboard in the third, as Phelps hit his first of two round trippers with Tike Redman on base to make it 2-1, giving Toledo the lead. The Red Wings then tied the game on their last at bat in the home half of the ninth to send it to extra innings, before Phelps once again found the fences and broke the 2-2 deadlock, as Toledo went on to defeat the IL North leaders and win their fourth game in a row. Colby Lewis took the hill to start the game for Toledo and went six full innings allowing one run, striking out four batters and walking one. After brief appearances by Cory Hamman and Steve Green, Lee Gardner (2-3) came in to pitch the ninth and tenth innings, and despite allowing the tying run, picked up the victory. Lance Davis came on in the 11th to retire the side and collect the save. The two clubs conclude their series Tuesday night.
