SeaWolves Snap Losing Skid (6/20 Recaps)

Toledo and Lakeland both struggled on Tuesday, losing by a combined 14 runs. Erie on the other hand was able to snap their losing streak, on the efforts of a strong start from Nate Bumstead and a huge hit from Jackson Melian.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - ROCHESTER 7, TOLEDO 1
37-34, t-2nd in West division
Toledo had it's five-game winning streaked snapped after dropping a 7-1 decision to the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night. The Mud Hens, who were limited to just four hits in the game, had their only scoring play come late in the game, when Kevin Hooper led off the top of the eighth with a walk, eventually scoring on Josh Phelps single to right field. Jordan Tata (3-3) took the loss for Toledo after pitching six full innings allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out five batters, before giving way to Mark Woodyard who came on to work the seventh and eight innings, giving up three more runs. The Mud Hens, who remain in a tie for second place with the Louisville Bats and just one game back of division leading Indianapolis, will have Wednesday off as a travel day, as they make their way to Syracuse to open a four game series against the SkyChiefs beginning Thursday night at 7:15 p.m.

AA Erie SeaWolves - ERIE 4, READING 3
30-39, t-4th in Southern division
Erie used solid pitching and a big sixth inning to defeat Reading 4-3 Tuesday night. Nate Bumstead recorded his fifth win of the season, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in six innings. Brian Rogers pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his sixth hold of the season, and John Ennis shut out the Phillies in the ninth for his sixth save. Kurt Airoso started the scoring in the sixth with an RBI double that drove in Chris Maples. Three batters later, Jackson Melian hit his fourth home run of the season with two men on, putting the SeaWolves on top for good. The series continues Wednesday night at 7:05pm.

HiA Lakeland Tigers - FT. MYERS 11, LAKELAND 3
36-32, 3rd in West division
Lakeland allows 13 hits and loses 11-3 Tuesday night at Ft. Myers. Jeremy Johnson took the loss (1-1) after allowing 2 home runs and a total of 7 runs in just 3 1/3 innings. In all the L-Tigers used five pitchers in the loss. The L-Tigers first run came in the 3rd when Brent Dlugach doubled to leadoff the inning, and two batters later Chris Robinson singled him home. Robinson was also involved in the 6th when with 2 outs and Robinson on, Jeff Frazier blasted a two-run home run (7) to finish the scoring. The L-Tigers look to take the final game of the series against Ft. Myers Wednesday night at 7:05pm.

A West Mich. Whitecaps - END OF FIRST HALF OF SEASON
41-26, 1st in Eastern division

The Midwest League is on their All Star break, so most of the club's players (except Ramon Garcia, Orlando Perdomo and Mike Hollimon) will have a three day break.
