A West Mich. Whitecaps - W. MICH. 7, FT. WAYNE 6
34-10, 1st in Eastern division

After a rare loss, West Michigan got back to business and took home a 7-6 victory, though not without a little drama at the end. After a strong start from Sendy Vasquez, he turned over a three run lead to the bullpen. Vasquez made it 6 1/3 innings, giving up a pair of runs. But the 'Caps 'pen struggled, and after Orlando Perdomo loaded the bases without recording an out in the ninth, Anthony Claggett came in and ended up allowing all three inherited runners to score, allowing the game to get tied up at six. It wouldn't be tied for long though, as in the bottom half of the ninth, Cameron Maybin ripped a double, and came home via a Mike Hernandez game winning single. Hernandez was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI, while Maybin had two doubles and two runs. Mark Haske also blasted a two run shot. The 'Caps host Fort Wayne again on Monday at 7:00pm.

As well as Brendan Wise pitched, Eleazar Aponte might have actually pitched better. Aponte, en route to getting his 4th win, he gave up a run on four hits over eight innings. He also struck out eight GCL Yankees in the 13-1 route. Practically everyone in the lineup had a big day, but Michael Sullivan had three hits, three runs and two RBI, while Chris Carlson had two hits and three runs driven in. Luis Arlet also crossed the plate four times on the day. The GCL Tigers travel to take on the GCL Indians at noon on Monday.
