A West Mich. Whitecaps - W. MICH. 7, FT. WAYNE 6
34-10, 1st in Eastern division
After a rare loss, West Michigan got back to business and took home a 7-6 victory, though not without a little drama at the end. After a strong start from Sendy Vasquez, he turned over a three run lead to the bullpen. Vasquez made it 6 1/3 innings, giving up a pair of runs. But the 'Caps 'pen struggled, and after Orlando Perdomo loaded the bases without recording an out in the ninth, Anthony Claggett came in and ended up allowing all three inherited runners to score, allowing the game to get tied up at six. It wouldn't be tied for long though, as in the bottom half of the ninth, Cameron Maybin ripped a double, and came home via a Mike Hernandez game winning single. Hernandez was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI, while Maybin had two doubles and two runs. Mark Haske also blasted a two run shot. The 'Caps host Fort Wayne again on Monday at 7:00pm.
