Toledo Tied with Two To Go (9/2 Recaps)

The Mud Hens are battling for their playoff lives, and with two games left in the season, they remain tied for 1st place in the division. Plus, Lakeland's season wraps up on Sunday after a disappointing Saturday doubleheader.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens – TOLEDO 4, COLUMBUS 1
75-65, t-1st in West division
Toledo sits in a tie for 1st place with just two games left in the season, after their 4-1 win over Columbus on Saturday. The offense did all its damage in the 4th inning, putting up a four spot. And then the pitching held on. Chad Durbin picked up the win, his 11th, as he allowed a run in 7 2/3 innings. Lee Gardner then pitched a perfect 9th for his 29th save. Dustan Mohr went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI for Toledo, Kevin Hooper added a pair of hits and an RBI. The two teams now head to Toledo to finish up the final two games of the season at Fifth Third Field. Sunday's game is at 6:00pm.

HiA Lakeland Tigers – GM1: TAMPA 6, LAKELAND 1

31-36, 5th in West division
Lakeland lost both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, sealing up a losing second half of the season in the process. In the first game, Andrew Kown took the loss, giving up two runs in three innings. Gilberto Mejia drove in the lone run, while the team managed just five hits in the game.

Eleazar Aponte took the loss in the second game, but pitched well, going the distance while giving up three Tampa runs. Unfortunately for Aponte, he got no offensive support, as the club managed just five hits again, and only one extra base hit, a double from Mejia. Lakeland's season comes to a close on Sunday evening against Tampa at 6:00pm.

46-22, 1st in Eastern division

The Whitecaps have known for a while that they'd be playoff bound, but that doesn't mean they're going to rest now, as they showed on Saturday with a 7-5 win over Dayton. Sendy Vasquez picked up his 13th win of the season but wasn't spectacular, as he gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings. Matt Joyce and Cory Middleton led the charge for the offense, as each blasted a home run and combined to drive in five. Dusty Ryan and Mark Haske also had a pair of hits each. They have two more games with Dayton before the playoffs start on Wednesday.
