As Toledo waits to get their championship round started, West Michigan sealed a spot in their own championship round on Sunday afternoon, jumping all over Lansing with the help of Matt O'Brien and a handful of impressive offensive showings.

A West Mich. Whitecaps – W. MICH. 8, LANSING 2
West Michigan wins series 2-0

West Michigan locked up a slot in the Midwest League finals with an 8-2 victory on Sunday. Matt O'Brien picked up the win for the 'Caps, giving up two runs over six innings, including seven strikeouts. Meanwhile, O'Brien got plenty of run support, with six runs scored over the first five innings. Matt Joyce and Mike Hernandez each had two hits and crossed the plate twice, while Pedro Cotto went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI. West Michigan will play the winner of the other semifinal, beginning on Tuesday.

Oneonta came up just a few games short of making the playoffs in the Stedler division.
