Poor Weather Continues (4/6 Recaps)

West Michigan and Erie both had their games postponed on Friday evening due to the poor weather. Meanwhile, Toledo struggled through the cold in a tough loss to Louisville and Lakeland came up just short against Tampa.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens – LOUISVILLE 8, TOLEDO 2
0-2, 4th in West division
The bats went cold Friday night for the Mud Hens on an even colder night in Louisville. David Espinosa had one hit and one RBI for the Mud Hens in an 8-2 loss against the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Park. Chris Shelton recorded the only other hit for the Mud Hens while Kevin Hooper added their only other run. Pitcher Virgil Vasquez (0-1, 9.82 ERA) allowed four hits, four runs and three walks in three and two-thirds innings for the Mud Hens, but also fanned eight batters. Former Boston Red Sox infielder and 2004 World Series Champion Mark Bellhorn and Bubba Crosby led the Bats offensive with home runs in the first and third innings, respectively. The Mud Hens will face the Bats at 6:15 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Park.

AA Erie SeaWolves – ERIE vs. ALTOONA, PPD: SNOW
0-0, t-3rd in Southern division
The game between the Erie SeaWolves and Altoona Curve was postponed due to poor field conditions. No make up date has been announced. They will try again on Saturday April 7 at 6:35 p.m. The pitching matchup remains the same with RHP Dallas Trahern scheduled for Erie and LHP Josh Shortslef for the Curve.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – TAMPA 3, LAKELAND 2
1-1, t-2nd in West division
Failing to capitalize on momentum from opening night, the Flying Tigers fell to the Tampa Yankees and starting pitcher Ian Kennedy 3-2. Burke Badenhop pitched five innings and surrendered two runs for Lakeland, but ultimately Ricky Steik was credited with his first loss of the season. On the offensive side, Michael Hernandez hit a solo shot off of Kennedy in the 2nd inning. Cameron Maybin also scored off of a single from Ronnie Bourquin in the 6th inning. This, however, was not enough to better Tampa's three runs. The Flying Tigers look to take the lead in the series at home against the Yankees Saturday night at 6:00 PM. Starting pitchers have yet to be announced.
