AAA Toledo Mud Hens – TOLEDO 3, BUFFALO 1

Mikel Hessman's three run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the Toledo Mud Hens to a 3-1 win over Buffalo at Fifth Third Field Thursday Night. Chris Shelton, Ryan Raburn, Kevin Hooper, Brent Clevlen and Timo Perez each added hits for the Mud Hens. Perez's single extended his hitting streak to 13 games which equals Raburn's 2005 streak. Yorman Bazardo (1-1, 6.75) recorded the win after allowing only one run off of seven hits in six innings pitched. Bazardo also fanned five batters. Aquilino Lopez recorded his fourth save of the season, fanning two batters in the process. Zach Miner will take the mound tomorrow for the Mud Hens when they face the Bisons (8-3) in their series finale at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.

AA Erie SeaWolves – BOWIE 11, ERIE 5
4-6, 5th in Southern division
The Erie SeaWolves jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings only to see their lead disappear in an 11-5 loss to the Bowie Baysox. Starting pitcher Jon Connolly pitched five innings allowing four hits and three runs before being replaced by Kyle Sleeth. Sleeth set the Baysox down in order in the sixth but was tagged for four runs on four hits in the seventh. Sleeth was replaced by Kevin Ardoin who also allowed four hits and four runs before getting out of the inning. The eight run inning for the Baysox proved to be enough with Erie managing just one run in the eighth. The SeaWolves received two hits each from Nick McIntyre, Matt Joyce and Steve Torrealba and Matt Joyce also added 2 RBI's. The SeaWolves and Baysox will play the second of a three game series on Friday April 20 at 6:35 p.m. Erie right-hander Dallas Trahern (2-0 0.73 ERA) is scheduled to face Bowie right-hander Radhames Liz (1-0 4.50 ERA).

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers –LAKELAND 13, DUNEDIN 6
6-8, 5th in West division
Earning his first victory of the season, Eleazar Aponte pitched six innings and surrendered four runs as the Lakeland Flying Tigers beat Dunedin 13-6. Offense was plentiful for Lakeland, while outfielder Justin Justice was the star of the show. Justice batted 3-for-4 on the night with one home run and six total runs batted in. Mike Hernandez also batted 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. The Flying Tigers next game is at home against Dunedin on Friday night at 7 PM. Sendy Vasquez will most likely make the start for Lakeland, while Russ Savickas will get the nod for Dunedin.

A West Mich. Whitecaps – CLINTON 3, W. MICH. 0
6-6, 3rd in Eastern division
The Whitecaps were shut out at home Thursday by Clinton, 3-0. West Michigan batters managed only four hits throughout the game and struck out 11 times. Lauren Gagnier took the loss despite striking out eight and allowing one earned run in 6 1/3 innings. The series concludes Friday with a 3:00 p.m. start time at Fifth Third Ballpark.
