Perfect Sweep for the Day (5/4 Recaps)

It was a perfect day for the organization, as every club picked up a win on Friday. The day was highlighted by a huge ninth inning rally by Lakeland and a complete game shut out from Eulogio De La Cruz.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens – TOLEDO 6, SCRANTON/WB 4
13-15, 3rd in West division
Dennis Tankersley picked up a club best fourth win Friday night and the Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees 6-4 at Fifth Third Field. Ramon Santiago led the 'Hens with a run, a hit and two RBI and Brent Clevlen had two RBI. Dane Sardinha had a double and an RBI for the 'Hens who welcomed back closer Aquilino Lopez. Lopez earned his fifth save of the season in relief effort after Tankersley allowed only three earned runs in six innings. Right-hander Yorman Bazardo (1-2, 4.10 E.R.A) will take the mound Saturday against Colorado.

AA Erie SeaWolves – ERIE 2, HARRISBURG 0
13-11, t-1st in Southern division
Eulogio De La Cruz pitched a gem to key the SeaWolves 2-0 victory over the Harrisburg Senators. De La Cruz pitched a complete game allowing only two hits and walked only one while striking out ten. De La Cruz is now 3-2 on the season. The SeaWolves offense was held in check but they got a solo home run from designated hitter Jackson Melian. Nick McIntyre also had a good game at the plate going 2-for-3 with a RBI. Andres Torres extended his hitting streak to thirteen games also going 2-for-3. The SeaWolves and Senators will meet again on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. The Pitching matchup will be Eddie Bonine (2-1, 2.66 ERA) for Erie and Collin Balester (1-2, 2.30 ERA) will pitch for the Senators.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – LAKELAND 10, DUNEDIN 6
11-17, 5th in West division
The Flying Tigers rebounded to beat the Blue Jays Friday night, 10-6. Lakeland entered the ninth inning trailing 6-1, but a late nine run offensive start gave Freddy Dolsi his second win for the season. Starting pitcher Luke French pitched five innings while surrendering three runs. Lakeland cycled through several other relievers until ultimately Dolsi was given the opportunity to close the game, surrendering one hit and striking out one as well. On the offensive side, Ryan Roberson batted 3-for-5 and registered 3 RBIs. Michael Hernandez pinch hit at one point in the night and batted 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Will Rhymes also provided an RBI for the team. The Flying Tigers will travel back to Lakeland Saturday night at 6:00 PM to start a new series with Jupiter. Eleazar Aponte will most likely make the start for Lakeland, while Jupiter's starting pitcher has yet to be announced.

A West Mich. Whitecaps – W. MICH. 9, BURLINGTON 4
14-12, 3rd in Eastern division

A two-out offensive rally in the seventh inning sealed a 9-4 victory for West Michigan Friday in their return to Fifth Third Ballpark. Down 4-3 with the first two batters retired, the Whitecaps loaded the bases with two singles and a walk for Jeramy Laster, who singled in two runs. Audy Ciriaco added an RBI single of his own to put West Michigan up 6-4. Ryan Strieby hit a three-run home run in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Strieby had two more hits in the game to finish with three hits and three RBIs. Laster also had three RBIs. Lauren Gagnier started, giving up four hits, including a home run, and four earned runs while striking out six in six innings. Josh Rainwater picked up the victory with three scoreless innings of relief, striking out two, walking one, and allowing three hits. The series continues Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
