AAA Toledo Mud Hens – CHARLOTTE 8, TOLEDO 2

Toledo's offense left nine base runners stranded and turned 12 hits into only two runs in an 8-2 loss to Charlotte Saturday night. Mud Hens fans were treated to an appearance by White Sox slugger Jim Thome who is completing rehab for a strained rib. Thome was perfect from the plate with a 2-for-2 effort in addition to three walks a run and an RBI. The loss was credited to Ron Chiavacci (1-4, 4.79 E.R.A) after the rightly allowed six earned runs on seven hits and five walks in four innings. Jack Hannahan went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and doubles were hit by Chris Shelton and Mike Hessman. Shelton and Ryan Raburn each scored a run for the 'Hens who will face Charlotte at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fifth Third Field. The probable starter for Toledo is Dennis Tankersley (3-2, 3.88 E.R.A).

AA Erie SeaWolves – AKRON 4, ERIE 0
21-17, 2nd in Southern division
The Erie SeaWolves were shut out 4-0 by the visiting Akron Aeros. Erie had only four hits in the game and two came off the bat of Clete Thomas. Thomas was 2-for-4 in the game. Mike Hollimon and Matt Joyce had the other hits. Starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens pitched six innings and allowed nine hits and four earned runs. He also walked five and struck out five in the loss. Kevin Ardoin pitched two scoreless innings and Matt Rusch also pitched a scoreless inning. The SeaWolves and Aeros will complete their series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Eulogio De La Cruz is expected to take the mound for Erie while the Aeros will send J.D. Martin.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – SUSPENDED: POWER
18-23, 5th in West division
The Flying Tigers Saturday night game was lights out – literally. As Lakeland was trailing 10-2, the game was suspended during the sixth inning as major power outages hindered any possible future game play. Starting pitcher Burke Badenhop pitched three innings while surrendering six runs. He was then relieved by Alfredo Figaro who was just added to the roster from Extended Spring Training. Figaro pitched 2 and 2/3 innings and gave up four runs before play was suspended. On the offensive side, the Flying Tigers registered only two hits. Max Leon batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Lakeland will travel to Vero Beach for their next game Sunday night at 5:00 PM. Luke French will make the start for the Flying Tigers, while Vero Beach's starter has yet to be announced.

A West Mich. Whitecaps – W. MICH. 6, QUAD CTS. 5

The Whitecaps won in the ninth inning for the second time in three days, with Gorkys Hernandez delivering the big hit this time on a two out, two RBI single to give West Michigan a 6-5 lead over the Swing of the Quad Cities that would go on to hold Saturday. The 'Caps put up single runs in the first, third and seventh to give them a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Chris Cody was having his usual strong outing when he allowed a walk and a single to lead off the inning and was lifted for Josh Rainwater. Rainwater gave up another single before Ryan Strieby committed an error to allow a run to score and load the bases. Two batters later, Rainwater gave up a two out grand slam to Jared Schweitzer to give the Swing a 5-3 lead. Rainwater picked up the win, however, after the Whitecaps' three run ninth. Brandon Timm was also hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth to score a run. Brett Jensen got his ninth save with a scoreless ninth. West Michigan will look to sweep the series Sunday at 2:00 p.m. EST.
