AAA Toledo Mud Hens – TOLEDO 7, SCRANTON/WB 0

Wednesday was another grand night for Mud Hens batters. Mike Hessman hit a grand slam, his fourteenth home run of the season and Toledo blanked Scranton Wilkes-Barre 7-0. Ron Chiavacci earned his second straight win, but this win was in relief for Jordan Tata. Tata's first outing of the season was a productive one as the right-hander pitched three nearly perfect innings allowing no hits and one walk before Chiavacci took the mound allowing no runs and recording five strikeouts. Timo Perez, Chris Shelton. Ramon Santiago, Dane Sardinha and Kevin Hooper each had mult-hit games and Ryan Raburn was walked five times. Raburn also scored two runs. Dennis Tankersley will get the start for the 'Hens Thursday versus the Yankees.

AA Erie SeaWolves – ERIE 9, HARRISBURG 4
27-23, 2nd in Southern division
Matt Joyce hit a two run home run in the sixth to help the SeaWolves to a 9-4 victory over the visiting Harrisburg Senators. The SeaWolves fell behind 4-0 but started the comeback in the bottom of the fourth scoring three runs. Steve Torrealba put the SeaWolves on the board with a two run single to get things started. Torrealba was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI's. The SeaWolves tied the game in the fifth and the home run by Joyce put the SeaWolves ahead for good in the sixth. Andrew Kown earned the victory in relief of Jair Jurrjens who started the game. Kown allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out five in his 2 1/3 innings pitched to earn his first victory of the season. Matt Joyce was 1-for-3 with 3 RBI's to lead the way for the SeaWolves. Clete Thomas was 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI's and Jeff Larish also contributed two RBI's and went 1-for-3 in the game. The SeaWolves will go for the sweep of Harriburg on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Eulogio De La Cruz is expected to start for Erie against John Lannan of the Senators.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – LAKELAND 9, TAMPA 2
23-28, 4th in West division
The Flying Tigers evened their series against the Tampa Yankees Wednesday night with a score of 9-2. Starting pitcher Burke Badenhop pitched seven innings and surrendered two runs. He was then relieved by Derek Witt who pitched two innings of scoreless baseball. On the offensive side, Ovandy Suero batted 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Also, Will Rhymes batted 3-for-6 with two RBIs. The two teams will meet again Thursday night but this time the game will take place in Lakeland at 7:00 PM. Starting pitchers have yet to be announced.

A West Mich. Whitecaps – W. MICH. 3, LANSING 2
28-22, 2nd in Eastern division
Gorkys Hernandez contributed to every Whitecaps run Thursday as they defeated Lansing 3-2. Hernandez scored the 'Caps first run of the game in the sixth on a Ryan Strieby single and hit a two RBI single in the seventh to put West Michigan ahead for good. Randor Bierd (1-1, 1.80 ERA) got the win with three perfect innings of relief, striking out four. Jeff Gerbe pitched five solid innings in his second start, allowing two earned runs and striking out four. His only blemish came in the fourth when he allowed a two-run home run to Brian Pettway to break a scoreless tie. Brett Jenson picked up his tenth save in the ninth, fanning two of three batters faced. The Whitecaps and Lugnuts will play a double header in Lansing Thursday starting at 6:05 p.m.
