A West Mich. Whitecaps – W. MICH. 4, BELOIT 3
West Michigan up 1-0, Best of Five Series

Two run home runs from Jeramy Laster and Scott Sizemore gave West Michigan a 4-3 victory Tuesday over Beloit and a 1-0 series lead in the Midwest League Championship Series. With two outs and James Skelton on first from a walk in the first inning, Laster belted his shot to left field off of Beloit starter Alex Burnett. The Snappers came right back to tie it in the top of the second when Jonah Nickerson walked Garrett Olson with the bases loaded, followed by a Chris Cates RBI single. With the score still tied in the bottom of fifth, Gorkys Hernandez reached on a fielding error by Cates. After a Skelton strike out, Sizemore connected on his blast to put the Whitecaps back on top. Beloit cut the lead to one in the sixth when a throwing error by Audy Ciriaco allowed Gregory Yersich to score from second and put the tying run at third with two outs. Nickerson struck out Cates to escape the inning with the lead in tact and eventually pick up the win. Luis Marte took over in the seventh, pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Brett Jensen threw a perfect ninth, striking out two for his third post-season save. Game two is Wednesday at 7 p.m., with Duane Below scheduled to start against Beloit's Tyler Robertson.

SS-A Oneonta Tigers – AUBURN 4, ONEONTA 3
Auburn Wins Series 2-1

The season came to a disappointing end for the O-Tigers on Tuesday as the Doubledays topped them 4-3, despite a late charge from the Oneonta offense. Heading into the ninth down 4-1, Oneonta scored two runs via a two run double by Christopher White, but with him standing on second as the tying run, they couldn't bring him home. Sendy Vasquez took the loss, giving up all four Auburn runs before being pulled in the third inning. White was the star at the plate, going 3-for-5, including bringing home those two runs. Jorge Patino also had a pair of hits, and Cory Middleton brought home the other Oneonta run. The loss wraps up the series and sends Oneonta home with a division crown, but coming up short of the league title.
