Originally, it was announced the Tigers would be spending five SeaWolves and a Mud Hen to the AFL in October - infielders Scott Sizemore and Cale Iorg, first baseman/outfielder Ryan Strieby, starting pitcher Thad Weber, and relievers Cody Satterwhite and Robbie Weinhardt.
However, both Strieby and Satterwhite battled injuries down the stretch and found themselves on the disabled list, and because of that, the Tigers have chosen to rest the pair and instead send a couple of other worthy participants.
Replacing Strieby and Satterwhite will be their teammate, outfielder Casper Wells, and recent second round draft pick Andy Oliver. Wells hit .260 with 15 homers and an .859 OPS for the 'Wolves in 2009 while missing part of the season with a broken hand. Oliver was signed just before the draft signing deadline and did not pitch for the organization in league play.
In addition to Wells and Oliver, the team will also be sending one additional pitcher to the league, with the Tigers recently naming Scot Drucker to the AFL roster. Drucker, who was signed towards the end of the 2008 season, spent the year with Triple-A Toledo and finished second on the team in wins.
