MiLB Recaps: Thomas Homers Twice in Hens Rout

The Mud Hens offense exploded for a double digit run day as Toledo took down Norfolk 10-3. Alfredo Figaro was strong once again as he picked up his fourth win of the season, giving up a run in six innings of work. He also struck out six. Clete Thomas and Danny Worth helped pace the offense, with Thomas belting a pair of home runs to total four RBI, while Worth went 2-for-4 with a solo blast, two runs and two RBI. Frazier also had a pair of hits including a double and two RBI.

The SeaWolves fell to Altoona in a high scoring affair on Saturday, losing 9-7. Thad Weber got roughed up despite going deep into the game, giving up nine runs on 13 hits in 6 2/3 innings. Most of the damage from Altoona came in a six run second inning. Erie put up 13 hits of its own, with Andy Dirks and Michael Bertram each going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Bertram had a solo home run in there, while Dirks ripped a pair of doubles. Cesar Nicolas also drove in a pair of runs for the 'Wolves.

The Flying Tigers picked up another win over Dunedin on Saturday, this time taking home a 5-4 victory. Adam Wilk got the win, striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings. He was hit quite a bit, giving up nine, but only yielded three runs, two earned. Anthony Shawler recorded the final two outs of the game to pick up his second save, and drop his ERA under one for the season. Rawley Bishop continued his tear at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Billy Nowlin also chipped in with a pair of hits including a double and two RBI.

Ramon Lebron continued to lead the way for the young Whitecaps as West Michigan picked up a 4-2 win over Bowling Green. Lebron battled his control a bit with four walks, but still managed to toss five shutout innings, striking out seven. Melvin Mercedes also pitched the ninth to pick up his third save of the season, despite walking a pair of to put the tying runs on base. The 'Caps weren't able to generate a lot of offense at the plate, managing just four hits, but posted four runs in the fourth inning, despite managing just two singles, thanks to a couple of walks, an HBP, and a sacrifice fly. Avisail Garcia's two-run single gave the club the early lead, while Hernan Perez also brought in a run with the sac fly.
