Despite a three-run bump in the third and fourth innings, Armando Galarraga and the Toledo offense joined forced to post another victory in Durham. Galarraga finished the game with six innings worked, seven hits and three runs allowed, and six strikeouts. Jay Sborz againpicked up the save working four perfect outs in the eighth and ninth innings for his nine shutdown of the year. Utility player Max Leon continued to see his bat perk up, with two doubles in the game, while Jeff Frazier doubled in three runs, and Brent Dlugach picked up a double as well.

Lakeland was saddled with the task of facing one of the top young left-handers in the game on Monday, as they squared off with Tampa Bay prospect Matt Moore. They sent their own highly touted pitcher to the mound though, as Luke Putkonen was up to the task; firing six shutout innings of three-hit ball, with three strikeouts. Tyler Conn and Erik Crichton combined to provide spectacular relief, working three total innings with no hits, one walk, and four whiffs. Lakeland got all the offense they would need in the second inning, but tacked on a single run again in the third and seventh innings for good measure. Brent Wyatt picked up two hits and an RBI as he raised his season average to .315. Rawley Bishop also picked up two hits, including his tenth double of the young season.
