The Mud Hens fell to Rochester 8-4 on Saturday. Billy Buckner was roughed up in his Tigers organization debut giving up eight runs on 14 hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. Josh Rainwater and Scot Drucker combined to keep runs off the board the remainder of the game, but the damage had been done. At the plate, Scott Sizemore had a big game going 4-for-5 with a run scored, while Jeff Frazier added a pair of RBI.
Erie jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but it was short lived, as Bowie came back and never looked back in a 4-2 loss. Jon Kibler took the loss, giving up three runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. Anthony Shawler did toss 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief however. Wilkin Ramirez led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, scoring a run and driving in another. Cesar Nicolas also added a pair of hits.
As has become common this season, the Flying Tigers picked up a win behind some strong pitching on Saturday, topping Fort Myers 8-3. Charlie Furbush shined this time around, giving up a run on three hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He also struck out eight. Furbush got plenty of support at the plate though, with Francisco Martinez and Kody Kaiser each ripping three hits and driving in a pair of runs. Ben Guez and Gustavo Nunez combined for three runs scored with two hits apiece.
The VSL Tigers fell to the VSL Phillies 2-1 in a tight battle on Saturday. Juan Espinoza got the start and a no decision, tossing five shutout innings. It would be Manuel Morandi that would take the loss though, giving up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth. The runner was unearned after the leadoff runner reached base via an error by David Lizardo. Jesus Alvarado was responsible for the club's only run, ripping a solo homer.
