The Mud Hens split a doubleheader with Rochester on Monday, dropping the first game 15-3 but stealing the second 6-2. The first game was one to forget, as Ruddy Lugo was hammered for ten runs on eight hits in just 2/3 of an inning before exiting. Jeff Larish drove in two runs in the loss. Luckily, the team had a short memory as they came back in the second game and got some great pitching from L.J. Gagnier. Gagnier went the distance, giving up two runs on just one hit, a two run homer in the third inning. Larish was the star at the plate again, belting a two run homer and driving in three runs total. Brent Dlugach also added a solo homer.
The Flying Tigers suffered another loss at the hands of Fort Myers, losing 5-1. Mark Sorensen took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. Rawley Bishop had two hits and an RBI for the club, while Julio Rodriguez added a pair of doubles.
The VSL Tigers pulled out an 8-7 win over the VSL Reds in a seesaw battle. After jumping out to an early lead, the Reds came back to reclaim the lead, only to the see the VSL Tigers take it right back in the next inning, and then hang on for the win. Johan Belisario got the start, giving up three runs in three innings of work. Jairo Sanchez earned the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings, while Phil Nesbitt picked up his fourth save for going 1 2/3 innings without allowing a run. Gabriel Tenia ripped a pair of doubles and scored a run for the club, while Jose Soledad added two hits and scored twice.
New team, same result as the DSL Tigers fell this time around to the DSL Braves, 4-2. Albin Acosta got the start and a no decision, tossing 2 2/3 shutout innings. Darlin Duran took the loss, giving up two runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 relief innings. Samuel Crafort ripped a triple and scored a run for the club.
