Toledo wrapped up its road trip with an 8-4 win over Lehigh Valley on Friday night. The Hens needed a late surge though to claim victory as the Iron Pigs tied the game at four in the bottom of the seventh, getting a run off of Daniel Schlereth. Ruddy Lugo had gotten the start and picked up a no decision, giving up three runs in five innings of work. Brendan Wise picked up the win, tossing 2 1/3 innings of shutout baseball to close the game out. Ryan Strieby helped pace the club at the plate, belting a three run homer in the ninth to give Toledo a sizable lead, to go with four RBI's total for the game. Jeff Larish also added a solo home run, while Brent Dlugach went 3-for-5 with a run scored.
The SeaWolves were shut out for the second straight night, this time falling to New Hampshire 4-0. Brooks Brown got the start and took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits in seven innings of work. He also struck out five and walked none. The offense scattered just five hits though, with two apiece coming from Andy Dirks and Justin Henry.
The Whitecaps fell to Quad Cities, 8-3. Ramon Lebron was hammered for the 'Caps, unable to make it out of the first inning. He gave up seven runs on four hits and three walks in 2/3 of an inning, and that pretty much sealed the game before it really got under way. Nate Newman was excellent in relief though, tossing 4 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball. At the plate, Wade Gaynor ripped a solo home run, while Ronnie Bourquin chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI.
The DSL Tigers picked up a 3-1 win over the DSL Blue Jays on Friday. Benny Paulino got a start and a no decision for the club, giving up one unearned run in three innings of work without allowing a hit. Jorge Medina got the win in relief for his four shutout innings of work. Jose Valdez also pitched the ninth for his second save. At the plate, Aldo Navia had two hits including a triple and an RBI for the club, while Carlos De Los Santos also added an RBI.
