The Mud Hens picked up a 7-5 win over Rochester on Monday evening. Scot Drucker got the start and a no decision, giving up four runs on nine hits in three innings of work. Brendan Wise picked up the win in relief, tossing three shutout innings. Jay Sborz also pitched the final two innings for his 14th save. The story however was once again Jeff Frazier, who belted two more home runs, a day after having a multi-homer game. Frazier drove in four runs total off of his pair of bombs. Wilkin Ramirez also went 2-for-2 with a run and a stolen base, and Will Rhymes and Ryan Strieby each drove in a run as well.
The Flying Tigers returned from the All-Star break on a down note, falling to Daytona 6-4 in 11 innings. Luke Putkonen had a rough go of it as the starter, giving up four runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings of work before giving way to the bullpen. The bullpen held serve up until the 11th, when Wilfredo Ramirez gave up a two-run walk-off home run. Billy Nowlin finally appears to be awoken from his early season slumber as he ripped a three run homer for the club. Francisco Martinez also added a pair of hits, and Ben Guez had a hit and an RBI.
The VSL Tigers picked up a win over the VSL Reds, winning soundly 7-1. Juan Espinoza picked up the win, his first of the year, tossing five shutout innings while scattering six hits and striking out five. Erick Soto had a big game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI. Luis Cortez also drove in three runs via a three run homer, and Daniel Carranza added two hits and scored twice.
The DSL Tigers picked up a nice 4-3 win over the DSL Rangers, building up an early lead and then holding on for the win. Emmanuel Del Orbe got the start but lasted just one inning before exiting. Edgar De La Rosa picked up the win in relief, giving the club five strong innings, allowing just one run. Jorge Medina allowed a pair of runs in relief, but Jose Valdez was able to record the final four outs without yielding a run to pick up the save and secure the win. Confesor Lara had two hits and an RBI, while Robinson Figueroa and Carlos De Los Santos each drove in a run as well.
