The SeaWolves pulled out a 2-1 win behind some strong pitching from Thad Weber. Weber went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four as he picked up his seventh win of the season. Chris White went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, while Kody Kaiser also added a hit and an RBI.
The Whitecaps split their two games on Friday night with Wisconsin, falling in the previously started game 3-2, but taking the late game 14-8. Luis Angel Sanz took the loss in the first game, giving up two runs (one earned) in five innings of work. Avisail Garcia had three hits including a double and an RBI. But the Whitecaps charged back in the second game, with Giovanni Soto picking up a win. Soto gave up three runs (two earned) in five innings. Zach Samuels and Kevin Faulk each got roughed up a bit in relief, but the Whitecaps offense had already provided plenty of cushion. The four through six hitters led the way, with Wade Gaynor going 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBI, Tony Plagman went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, a three run homer and four RBI total, Avisail Garcia added two hits, two runs and two RBI.
The GCL Tigers got roughed up by the GCL Phillies on Friday, falling 9-1. Jeff Ferrell was hit hard in the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits in just 1 2/3 innings of work. Ramon Lebron also struggled some in relief, giving up four more runs in three innings. Jack Duffey did have an encouraging outing though, tossing 2 1/3 innings of shutout baseball. Gabriel Purroy drove in Dixon Machado for the club's only run. Juaner Aguasvivas also had a three hit day.
The VSL Pirates topped the VSL Tigers on Friday, 2-0. Jose Mendoza took the loss but was solid, giving up a run on six hits in five innings. Yorfrank Lopez was solid in relief as well, allowing a run in three innings, but the offense couldn't muster any support. They scattered five hits with Jesus Ustariz getting the only extra base hit, a double.
