MiLB Recaps: Wyatt Blasts Way to LFT Win

The Mud Hens fell to Gwinnett on Monday 6-4. Andy Oliver took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) in six innings of work while battling his control, as he walked five and hit a batter. Casper Wells and Ben Guez each had two hits and added a solo home run for the club.

The Flying Tigers topped St. Lucie yet again on Monday, duplicating their seven runs while holding St. Lucie to just one this time around. Adam Wilk got the win and was outstanding, giving up a run on four hits in seven innings of work with five strikeouts. Jay Voss pitched the final two innings to pick up his first save. Brent Wyatt was the man at the plate, driving in five runs total, highlighted by a grand slam in the seventh inning to give Lakeland the lead for good. Gustavo Nunez also added two hits and an RBI.

The Whitecaps saw their five game win streak snapped as they fell 2-1 to Dayton. Luis Angel Sanz got the start and a no decision, allowing a run in seven innings of work, yielding just three hits and striking out three. Jordan Pratt took the loss for allowing the game winning run in relief. Wade Gaynor drove in the club's only run, while Avisail Garcia and Clay Jones each added a double.

The C-Tigers fell to Lowell 6-1 on Monday. Brennan Smith took the loss but gave the club a quality start, allowing three runs over seven innings of work, with no walks and eight strikeouts. Sean Finefrock struggled in relief though, allowing three more runs while recording just two outs to put the game out of reach. The team managed just two singles for the entire game, one of them from Ryan Enos who also drove in the club's only run.

The GCL Tigers picked up a 10-2 win over the GCL Pirates with the heart of the order leading the way. James Meador, Juaner Aguasvivas and Gilbert Gomez, the team's three, four and five hitters each drove in two runs, scored five runs total, and slugged a double apiece and got a home run out of Gomez. Kyle Ryan got the win, giving up a run in five innings of work with six strikeouts.

The DSL Tigers split a doubleheader with the DSL Blue Jays on Monday, falling in the first game 3-2 but taking the second game 1-0. Yinni Calderon got the start and took the loss in the first game, giving up three runs (one earned) in 4 1/3 innings. Calderon battled his control throughout the outing, with three walks and two wild pitches. Francisco Contreras and Carlos De Los Santos each had a hit and an RBI. In the second game, Jorge Medina got a no decision as the starter, tossing 5 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Darlin Duran earned the win in relief, completing the eight inning shutout when Javier Romero hit an RBI groundout to score Confesor Lara for the game winner.

As the VSL Tigers enter their final week of the season, they struggle to find wins as they fell to the VSL Reds 7-6 in ten innings. Yonny Mosquera got the start but didn't make it out of the first inning, giving up four runs (just one earned) in 2/3 of an inning. Leonel Vasquez would take the loss in extra innings, allowing the go ahead run to score. At the plate, Erick Soto led the way, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI.
