Clearly the Twins had no desire to sign Morneau and are probably planning on either Callabello and Mauer at first base. Alex Presley doesn't even look like a prospect. Oh well, I don't think its particularly bad to get rid of Morneau, his plate appearances have been getting pretty bad lately. He's looked simply awful with anything on the outside of the plate. With Sano somewhat borderline defensively at third, would anyone be surprised to see them try him at first base next year?

Yeah gosh, he was terrible this month, only banging out 9 homers and 21 rbi's.
I've grown exceptionally weary of Twins' management, who say on one hand they're not interested in just giving away Justin Morneau and want value in return, and then proceed to do exactly just that - literally give away a player that has been a pretty big part of this organization for quite some time and seemingly, on the way back for NOTHING!!! Shame, shame, shame...
Now THIS is another in a long line of crap, bone-headed trades that have made my head explode, but this is the first since last winter's debacle of trading away a rising star for a load of crap (when you got no backup plan!) all the while you're spouting out to the media, 'We're interested in competing in 2013." Seriously... what a load of horse-manure, but I can't believe some folks actually bought into it.
Awful awful move....Ben Revere II...another decent player gone for nothing. Ironic isn't it that Morneau was essentially the guy who was blocking Garrett Jones from playing with the Twins...and now they are teammates in Pittsburgh! Twins roster is thin...Wings roster is thinner. Our lineup tonite is bleak. We have Parmelee hitting .219. We have Hicks hitting .180. We have Olmedo and Fryer both hitting in the low .200's. I fear for us.
Based on the return (Alex Presley? Seriously?) I don't quite get this one. The only thing that might salvage this deal is if Presley turns out to be a useful role player for the Twins and Morneau re-signs with them in the offseason (doubtful).
trade got a bit better with the addition of Welker...he was the closer for Indianapolis and he was very good. I'd love to see him come here for the final two games and help us get to post season. Presley can hit and Welker is a solid AAA pitcher so maybe the Twins won't get totally fleeced. Pressley alone was not good...but adding Welker was OK.
PResley has very solid stats at Indianapolis the past 3 years. Good BA, OBP...modest power. Welker had good numbers in Indy and might be a decent pick-up down the road. I hope he goes to Rochester right now.
totally not unexpected and also totally correct. Concussions RARELY ever result in short stays on the DL. Plus now the Twins can play some of the guys they have called up more regularly....we should see Colabello, Hermann, and Pinto specifically in the lineup everyday now.

It's a good assumption, even if it's not common knowledge or it isn't official. Let Pinto and Herrmann finish off the year behind the dish - nothing to play for this year except to see who can help us next year.
