Twins Nab Robertson In Third Round

In the third round, the Twins selected Bella Vista left-hander Tyler Robertson. One of the better lefties in the state of California, Robertson was ranked as high as 50 on some draft boards, and at 6'5'', is very intimidating on the mound.

Tyler Robertson, a left-handed pitching prospect from Bella Vista (CA) High School, was taken by the Twins in the third round of the 2006 draft. Robertson had been on some scout's list as being one of the top 50 picks in the draft, but the Twins were able to pick him up at number 96. It was the end of a pretty successful three rounds for the Twins.

Robertson had a great junior season for Bella Vista, when he went 5-1 with a 1.73 earned run average. In 56.2 innings of work, Robertson struck out 102 batters, and was considered by many as one of the best pitchers in the state of California. At 6'5'' Robertson is very intimidating on the mound, but it was his funny mechanics that scared away some scouts. The Twins are the best at developing young pitchers, and Robertson should be no exception.
