Twins Pick Up Big Bats Late

In the 36th and 37th rounds, the Twins picked up two really good high school position players. They picked up J.D. Martinez in the 36th round, a good left-fielder who played on back-to-back State Championship teams. In the 37th round, they got a slugging catcher, who set his school's single-season home run record this past spring.

In the 36th round, the Twins selected Charles Flanagan High Schooler Julio (J.D.) Martinez. Martinez was one of the main reasons why Flanagan won their second straight State Championship this past spring. After a scoreless first inning, Martinez singled, and was brought home on a home run as Flanagan won the game 7-1. He is a good player, who has a great baseball makeup.

In the following round, the Twins may have found a gem in Denton High School's Aaron Baker. He is a sweet-swinging, power-hitting lefty catcher, who set his school's single-season home run record this past season. We have been told he is a light-hearted kid who loves to play the game, which fits right into the Twins scheme.
