Lomasney had split time between both Rochester and New Britain this season. Some believed that he would once again be promoted to Rochester if Chris Heintz was called up to the Twins. Lomasney had appeared in three games for the Red Wings, smacking a home run, and driving in three.
Lomasney Released By Twins
The Twins released veteran catcher Steve Lomasney on Friday, as the Rock Cats activated Jose Morales from the disabled list. While he could never really get his bat going, Lomasney was a steady player behind the plate, and was looked on by some players as a reassuring figure back there. Lomasney, 28, was once a top prospect for the Boston Red Sox, but he was batting only .199 at the time of his release.
