How Good Is Zach Ward?

Roger takes a look at the newly acquired Zach Ward, whom the Twins picked up in the Kyle Lohse trade to the Cincinnati Reds. He shows us where Ward would have fit in had he been a member of the system when Roger put together his Mid-Season Pitcher Rankings.

If Ward had been a member of the Beloit Snappers staff and included in the recent mid-season rankings based on performance, his numbers from Dayton of the same league would have totaled 111.234. This total would have placed him as the 9th best in the Twins system, behind Jason Miller at #8 and Boof Bonser who would have dropped to #10.

He would have had the second best total on the Beloit team, behind only Oswaldo Sosa who was #7. It appears that we got a good prospect for Lohse who certainly has outlived his stay with the Twins for many reasons that we have all beat to death!

Editor's Note: Ward picked up a win in his first start as a member of the Twins organization, beating his old team, the Dayton Dragons, on Thursday. He allowed one hit in 5.2 innings of work, while striking out six. The win moved his record to 8-0 in the Midwest League.
