Six Snappers Named To MWL All-Star Game

On June 19, the Beloit Snappers will send six prospects to the Midwest League All-Star Game. Included in these six prospects are four pitchers and two position players.

The Beloit Snappers will send six players to the Midwest League All-Star Game on June 19, including four pitchers. Second baseman Brian Dinkelman earned a spot on the starting team, and third baseman Danny Valencia will be a reserve. Alex Burnett, Jeff Manship, Cole Devries, and Robert Delaney will be the four pitchers representing Beloit.

Dinkelman is batting .274 on the season in 53 games, collecting 18 extra-base hits, while driving in 15. He is batting .389 during the month of June, and has been one of the more consistent bats in the Snappers lineup this season.

Valencia has been one of the top hitters in the Midwest League all season long, and currently leads the Twins organization with ten home runs. He is currently batting .304 through his first 53 games, and has 31 ribbies to go along with his ten homers. He has 59 hits on the year.

Manship has been one of the best pitchers in all of Minor League Baseball this season, and he and Devries have combined to form the best one-two punch in the Midwest League. Manship has a 1.49 earned run average in his ten starts, and has allowed more than two earned runs on only one occasion. In eight of his ten starts, Manship has allowed zero or one earned runs.

Devries has been just as good, posting a 2.10 earned run average since becoming starter. He has appeared in twelve games overall for Beloit, making ten starts, and has an overall earned run average of 2.01. If he hadn't been rocked for five earned runs in his last start, Devries would have an even tinier ERA.

Robert Delaney has been one of the top closers in the Minor Leagues this season, coming out of nowhere to be one of the top relief pitchers in the organization this season. Fresh off being named Player of the Week, Delaney has an 0.57 earned run average in his 23 appearances this season, and has not allowed an earned run since May 13. He has allowed an earned run in only two appearances this season.

Alex Burnett continues to impress Twins scouts with his grit on the mound, and has a nice 3.60 ERA in 11 starts this season. The young right-hander had a great month of May, posting a 2.70 earned run average in six starts. He also had a complete game during May.
