TCD Pitcher of the Month: Robert Delaney

Here is the August version of Pitcher of the Month. In this installment, Fort Myers Closer Robert Delaney takes home the honor, after being unhittable this past month for Fort Myers. Take a look at his month, as well as our Honorable Mention selections.

This season has been an incredible one for relief prospect Robert Delaney, and on Friday, he was named Pitcher of the Month for the month of August. This award should come as no surprise for people who have been following him all season long, as he has put himself into the upper echelon of Twins relief pitching prospects. Delaney has gone from a non-drafted free agent, to possible the Pitcher of the Year in the organization.

This past month, Delaney terrorized the Florida State League, which is his second league this season. After setting the Beloit single-season save record in a little over a half a season, it did not take the young right-hander long to get used to the Florida State League.

In total, Delaney appeared in 12 games for the Fort Myers Miracle in August, and posted a 0.55 earned run average. He tallied 16.1 innings of relief, striking out 18 batters, and saved a perfect five out of five chances. He also won two games.

Against him batters hit only .211.
