Twins Prospect Power Rankings v.3

Here is the third installment of Twins Prospect Power Rankings. In this, we look at the top-25 performers for the Twins farm system this season. This is not a ranking of the best prospects in the system, but rather who is performing the best right now.

Rank Name Team Comments PREV
Anthony Swarzak ROC Swarzak continues to dominate at the Triple-A level, and could soon get the cal to the big league club.  The right-hander is second in the organization in earned run avergae, and has struck out 28. 1
Carlos Gutierrez FTM Gutierrez leads the organization in earned run average, and has been a beast for Fort Myers thus far.  The right-hander could be in line for a promotion to New Britain very soon. 2
Rene Leveret FTM Leveret currently leads the organization in batting average, and has shown to be the top weapon in the Miracle lineup.  He has driven in ten runs, hit a homer, and is batting .368. NR
David Bromberg FTM Bromberg, who led the minor leagues in strikeouts last season, was recently named Player of the Week.  The right-hander is third in the organization in ERA, as he has a 2.20 mark. 5
Anthony Slama NBR Slama leads the organization with five saves, and has been dominant as the Rock Cats' closer in 2009.  He could be slated for Rochester very soon, as his stock has skyrocketed the past two seasons. 4
Brian Dinkelman NBR Dinkelman has gotten off to a good start in New Britain, and lately has been tearing the cover off the ball.  The infielder is third in the system in bating average, and already has 31 hits. 19
Danny Valencia NBR Valencia has gotten his batting average close to the .300 mark, and has hit three home runs this season.  He has already scored 17 times, and has driven in nine. 3
Cole Devries NBR Devries has flown under the radar for most of the season, and has been a victim of some shoddy run support.  He is fourth in the system in earned run average, and has won two of his four decisions. 20
Joe Benson FTM Benson is back where he belongs, as a top prospect in the Twins organization.  The speedy outfielder is once again in the top ten in average, and is fourth in system in stolen bases. 6
Erik Lis NBR Lis may have hit his way into the mix at the Triple-A level, as he is currently second in the system in batting.  Lis, who is a very polished hitter, has driven in ten, and has a home run. NR
Kevin Mulvey ROC Mulvey, who almost made the big league club out of Spring Training, could be with the Twins very soon.  The right-hander has an earned run average under 3.00, and is close to the system lead in strikeouts. NR
Dustin Martin ROC Martin is currently batting over .300 for the Red Wings, and has been swinging a hot bat lately.  He not only is hitting for average, but he is doing all the little things for the team. 14
Ben Revere FTM Ben Revere is arguably the best prospect in the organization, and he is actually doing very well as a very young prospect in the Florida State League.  The speedy Revere is hitting close to .300, and leads the system in steals. 9
Robert Delaney NBR Delaney has teamed with Slama once again this season, and the Rock Cats are basically playing seven inning games when they have the lead.  Delaney could be in Rochester by the end of the season. 8
Joe Testa BEL Over his last ten games, Testa has posted an earned run average under 2.00, and has really exceeded expectations this season.  The former Wagner College product has an ERA under 2.00 for the season. 13
Evan Bigley FTM Bigley is currently sixth in the system in batting average, and although his power numbers are down, he has been swinging a hot bat for the Snappers.  He was recently promoted to Fort Myers. NR
David Winfree ROC Winfree continues to hit well for the Red Wings, and his four home runs are third in the organization.  Winfree hits the ball hard to all fields, and could be in Minnesota by the end of the season. 10
Luke Hughes ROC Hughes has hit for power this season, and leads the organization with five home runs.  He also has driven in 20 runs, which is good enough for third in the system. NR
Mark Dolenc FTM Dolenc has cracked the top-ten in the organization in batting average, and has hit well at the top of the Miracle lineup.  He has supplanted Revere at the leadoff spot, and has done a great job. NR
Bobby Lanigan BEL Lanigan has been a beast on the mound for the Snappers this season, and has won three of his first four decisions.  He is currently tied for first in the system in strikeouts. NR
Chris Parmelee FTM Parmelee is beginning to hit well for the Miracle, and had a three-hit effort this past week.  He has not lost his power numbers, and is tied for first in the system in home runs and runs batted in. NR
Matthew Fox NBR Fox is once again performing at a top level, and could reach the Triple-A level by the end of the season.  He has put his injuries in the background, and is now once again a top prospect. 25
Kyle Waldrop FTM This is one of my favorite stories of 2009, as Kyle Waldrop has gone on to be a top arm in the system again.  Waldrop has an earned run average under 2.00, and is a top reliever for the Miracle. 18
Deibinson Romero FTM Romero has hit the ball well in the past couple of weeks, and has been a main cog in the Miracle lineup.  Romero is hitting .281 in his last ten games, and has driven in eight. 15
Matthew Moses NBR Moses appears to be ready for a shot in Triple-A, and has hit very well in the early going for New Britain.  He is hitting .270 in his past ten games, and has driven in seven runs. 16

Dropped out: Ramon Santana (7), Zach Ward (11), Matt Macri (12),

Yohan Pino (17), Jonathan Waltenbury (21), Wilson Ramos (22),
