Sox Fall to Royals in the Ninth

The Sox lost 2-1 to the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday after giving up two runs in the ninth. Gary Majewsky, who was picked up in the Rule V draft last week, gave up the two runs and took the loss. Lefty Felix Diaz started the game, giving up no runs and two hits in four innings.

The Sox had just six hits in the game and scored their lone run in the second. Aaron Miles continues to struggle, going 0-4, while Willie Harris went hitless in center. Miguel Olivo went 0-3 at catcher and Jamie Burke played third, going 0-4. Tony Graffanino, Brian Daubach, Aaron Rowand, Joe Borchard and minor league prospects Angel Gonzalez (SS) and Chris Stewart (C) each had a hit.

Arnaldo Munoz, Ryan Kohlmeier and Royce Ring also pitched. Kohlmeier and Ring each threw a scoreless inning and Munoz threw two. In minor league games: Mark Buehrle was hit for nine runs in six innings, Rick White threw two shutout innings, Damaso Marte and Kelly Wunsch each threw a scoreless inning.

The Sox will go up against the Rockies on Wednesday in Tucson with Josh Stewart taking the mound. The game will start at 2:05 p.m. CT.
