A Promising Defeat

The White Sox lost 4-2 to the Colorado Rockies on Monday, but it was a moot point as Esteban Loaiza and Danny Wright pitched and likely secured their spots at the bottom of the rotation.

Loaiza started the game, giving up three runs (two earned) in five innings of work. Wright relieved Loaiza and threw a scoreless sixth and seventh inning, reporting no pain afterwards. Billy Koch came in for the eighth, giving up a run on two hits.

Frank Thomas drove in two runs while going 1-2 and playing first. D'angelo Jimenez started at second base where he committed an error, but went 1-4 with a run scored. Shortstop Jose Valentin, Magglio Ordonez (RF), Miguel Olivo (C) and Sandy Alomar (C) each had a hit.

The Sox will travel to Suprise to face the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. Lefty Felix Diaz will get the start. The game is scheduled to start at 2:05 p.m. CT.
