Ordonez Replaces Ramirez on All-Star Team

(SN Report #566) - Due to a sore left hamstring sustained by Manny Ramirez, one that will sideline him from the all-star game as a precaution, White Sox rightfielder Magglio Ordonez has been named his replacement.

For Ordonez, it will be his fourth all-star game, the first three coming each year between 1999 to 2001. All of them came as a reserve.

Ordonez, 29, is batting .292 with 16 homers, 49 RBIs, 22 doubles, 96 hits and 49 runs scored in 89 games this season.

AL manager Mike Scioscia has yet to announce who will start in left field in place of Ramirez, but Toronto's Vernon Wells appears to be the likely option.

Ordonez will be joining teammates pitcher Esteban Loaiza and outfielder Carl Everett.
