Harbison updates recruitment

Tre Harbison is having a great summer. The 2016 Shelby (N.C.) Crest running back spoke with Scout.com about the latest developments in his recruitment.

Last month, Tre Harbison picked up his second offer.

“NC State offered me the morning after I went to their camp,” said the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Harbison, who was offered by North Carolina last year. “It felt good to get the offer. I worked hard at the camp and it felt like it paid off.”

Harbison enjoyed the camp.

“It was a really good camp," he said. "There was a lot of talent there and it was really competitive. I felt like I did well in the one-on-ones.

”I worked with (running backs) coach (Desmond) Kitchings most of the time. He told me that he was real impressed with me and that he could tell I had been working hard.”

A few days later, Harbison camped at Tennessee.

“It was really good and I felt like I did really well,” he said. “(Running backs) coach (Robert) Gillespie said I helped myself and that I had a really good camp. I also ran the fastest 40 (4.5 seconds) out of all the running backs and he said he was really impressed.

“My favorite parts were just being around the competitive atmosphere and being around Coach Gillespie. He told me he likes my competitive edge, but also told me to continue to work on my game. He said they’re going to probably offer me, but he just doesn’t know when.”

Along with Tennessee, North Carolina and NC State, Harbison is attracting interest from Clemson, Wake Forest, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

At this time, he has no other camps or visits scheduled this summer.

Last season, Harbison rushed for 1,608 yards and 23 touchdowns.
