PinstripesPlus.com: Tell us what it feels like to be selected by the New York Yankees?

Zack Zehner: It was an overwhelming feeling when I saw my name come up. To be apart of one of the most successful sports franchise in history is ?an honor and a dream come true.

PinstripesPlus.com: Talk about your game a little bit. What type of player are you and how do you see yourself fitting in with the Yankees??

Zehner: I am the type of player who is going to have fun and play hard every time I show up to the ball field. The Yankees are going to be a great fit as they always put a physical team on the field and I think that style of play suites me best.

PinstripesPlus.com: What are your strengths and your weaknesses?

Zehner: Some strengths I have as a ball player include covering a lot of ground for a corner outfielder and be a presence in the lineup. I hit the ball with power to all fields and have a consistent approach at the plate. Some things I need to work on include my arm strength and reads on the base paths.

PinstripesPlus.com: How about your defensive game??

Zehner: I think I cover a lot of ground in the outfield not with my speed but good reads on balls and taking good first steps.

PinstripesPlus.com: Who would you compare your game to at the Major League level so the Yankees' fans have an idea of what your game is like??

Zehner: I like to think of myself as a Hunter Pence or Jayson Werth.

PinstripesPlus.com: Were you expecting to be drafted by the Yankees or were you surprised when they selected you??

Zehner: I had been talking to the Yankees in the days leading up to the draft so I wasn’t too surprised when they called my name.

PinstripesPlus.com: Do you see yourself staying at the same position or do you think you'll be moved to another position??

Zehner: I see myself playing left field in the minors. If I can work on my speed and reads more this coming short-season I think I could play anywhere in the outfield.

PinstripesPlus.com: What would you say is your best moment in baseball and why?

Zehner: My best baseball moment was this year was when I hit a walk off homerun against Long Beach State in extra innings. It was a huge conference win and keep our conference title hopes alive.

?PinstripesPlus.com: Who was your favorite team and player growing up?

Zehner: My favorite team growing up was the Padres and my favorite player is Tony Gwynn.

PinstripesPlus.com: What are your immediate plans now that you have been drafted by the Yankees? Is it your intention to sign now and start your professional career immediately?

Zehner: I hope to sign as soon as possible and start my career as a Yankee.
