PinstripesPlus.com: What was going through your mind after you were selected from the Yankees?

Bryan Blanton: It was exciting. Tt was a lot to take in. Being a junior and being in the draft was a dream come true really

PinstripesPlus.com: So, you were selected in the 21st round -- was there in point where you thought you were going back to school?

Blanton: I knew this year would be the best opportunity for me if [I got drafted]. There were some thoughts of that but not too many.

PinstripesPlus.com: Were you surprised it was the Yankees that selected you?

Blanton: Not really [they] were the only team that really talked to me and showed any interest. I knew it was going be them [if anybody].

PinstripesPlus.com: Do you have any idea what the Yankees organization or farm system is like?

Blanton: I know that they have a couple of teams. They have team in Virginia, Staten Island, and New Jersey.

PinstripesPlus.com: What type of pitches do you throw and how fast do you throw them?

Blanton: I throw a fastball that tops out at 94. I [also] throw a changeup, slider, and curveball.

PinstripesPlus.com: What is your biggest strength going into the season?

Blanton:  My biggest strength would probably be the mentality that I have on the mound. Being the closer the last couple of years for Catawba I have been put in some pretty tough situations and having the mentality to work through them will definitely be a big strength.

PinstripesPlus.com: What is something that you think you need to work on?

Blanton: Probably repeating my delivery. Being able to do the same delivery every single pitch is pitch is something I need to work on mechanically.

PinstripesPlus.com: Did you have a favorite team or player while growing up?

Blanton: More recently [I] became a big Corey Seager fan because I actually got to play against him when I was a sophomore in high school. [I] always pull for Seager and hope he does well.

PinstripesPlus.com: Is there any major league pitcher that you would compare yourself to?

Blanton: Any closer out there pretty much -- all of us have the same mentality to go out there and throw it as hard as you can.

Pinstripesplus.com: What would say is your best moment in baseball?

Blanton: The best would be going to the National Championship Game my freshman year at Catawba. We got to play for a national championship.  We unfortunately lost but it was but it was by far the best moment and experience.

PinstripesPlus.com: Do you think the pressure of pitching in New York might be a problem?

Blanton: I’m sure it will be nerve racking at first just to start with. But as far as pressure, I [played] in a lot of pressure games at Catawba and handled them well. So I think I will be able to handle the pressure.

PinstripePlus.com: What goals to you have set our for yourself early into your young career?

Blanton: I would like to make a name for myself, throw well and compete.

PinstripesPlus.com: What would be your message to Yankees fans right now about you can bring to the table?
