PP Game Notes: Thunder 1 - Senators 0

The Trenton Thunder defeated the Harrisburg Senators 1-0 in front of 4,173 fans at what turned out to be a very soggy Waterfront Park.

Javier Ortiz (3-3) got the win for the Thunder and Luke Lockwood (1-7) took the loss for the Senators. Hansel Izquierdo got his second save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth.

Trenton jumped on the Senators for a 1-0 lead in the first when Kevin Reese led off the game with a home run to deep right field, his third of the season. That was all the Thunder would need as Ortiz pitched into the sixth inning before allowing a hit.

The Harrisburg Senators came into the game with a team batting average of .218 coming into tonight and managed only five hits off the Thunder pitching staff. The game lasted only one hour and fifty eight minutes and set the record for the shortest game in Waterfront Park history. Before that the record was 1:59 against New Britain on April 30, 1995. The last time the Thunder went sub two hours for time of game was 1:53 on August 24, 2001 at Norwich.

Buddy Carlyle (2-0) goes to the hill tomorrow in game two of the three game series against Harrisburg as the Thunder look to win two in row after a train wreck of a series against the Reading Phillies over the weekend.
