Yankees Pick College Lefty, Garrett Patterson

In the 7th round, the Yankees went for yet another college lefty. This time, it would be Oklahoma hurler, Garrett Patterson, who they picked 229th overall.

The Yankees certainly are showing they are looking for lefty college pitchers. Patterson is a physically mature lefty, who has an aggressive style. He is also a senior after coming off an elbow injury in 2004. He doesn't profile to have an extremely high ceiling but he appears to be a solid starter, With Oklahoma, he went 6-3 with a 3.59 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched. But, what makes him intriguing is that he held opposing batters to a .192 batting average.
