Zakary Presley: It's really an honor; I can't imagine being drafted by any other team. They're such a storied franchise.
PinstripesPlus: Were you a Yankee fan growing up?
Presley: Well I'm from Texas so they weren't my favorite growing up, but I'm definitely not a Yankee hater. You have to respect a team that performs like the Yankees.
Presley: I'm a centerfielder who really uses my speed. I'm a very fluid runner with a good stride. I hustle on every play, which leads to making an out or getting on base most of the time.
PinstripesPlus: What do you see as your biggest strength?
Presley: I was voted Defensive Player of the year in my district. With my speed, I can cover a lot of ground in the outfield and have the ability to make a lot of plays.
PinstripesPlus: What do you see as your biggest weakness?
Presley: My most glaring weakness is my power. Being a leadoff hitter it really isn't as important of a tool, but my power stroke is definitely the part of my game that needs the most improvement.
PinstripesPlus: Which professional player would you compare yourself to?
Presley: The player myself and a few scouts compare me to is Scott Podsednik. A lead off hitter with a lot of speed who helped the White Sox win a World Series. So if I have a similar career path as Podsednik, I'd be very happy.
PinstripesPlus: Do you see yourself signing as soon as possible or going to college?
Presley: I'm really not sure right now, I'm just enjoying the moment and we'll set up a meeting next week and weigh my options.
PinstripesPlus: Would you see yourself switching positions?
Presley: It really comes down to what the Yankees would want me to do. But I really can't see that happening, centerfield lets me utilize my tools the best so I think I'm strictly an outfielder.
PinstripesPlus: Were you surprised to be selected by the Yankees?
Presley: I did talk to several other teams that were interested in me, but the Yankees, by far showed the most interest. So It really didn't come as to big of a surprise, I'm very proud to be selected by the Yankees.
PinstripesPlus: What's your favorite baseball moment?
Presley: I'd have to say this past post season. We were trailing all game until we tied it up in the late innings. On an 0-2 pitch with two out I got a clutch hit up the middle and eventually scored the winning run.
