Plumley Promoted to Trenton

(Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced that INF J.T. Stotts has been promoted from Trenton to Columbus (AAA-International League), and INF Grant Plumley has been transferred to the to the Thunder from the roster of the Tampa Yankees (High A-Florida State League).

Stotts was batting .223 in 71 games for the Thunder this season. He has also collected 15 RBI and seven stolen bases. During the 2005 season, he hit .221 in 103 games for the Thunder with two home runs and 30 RBI. He was acquired by the Yankees along with RHP Eduardo Sierra from the Oakland Athletics for LHP Chris Hammond Dec. 18, 2003.

Stotts was originally selected by Oakland in the third round of the 2001 draft.

Plumley has had two separate stints on the Disabled List this season with a hamstring pull. He started the season on the Disabled List and returned in early May. He has split time this season between the Tampa Yankees and the Gulf Coast League Yankees. Plumley batted .284 in 19 games for the Tampa Yankees with six RBI and nine runs scored. After missing time in June, Plumley rehabbed with the Gulf Coast League Yankees. In nine games, he batted .276 with no home runs and three RBI.

In 2005, Plumley split his time between Charleston (Low A-South Atlantic League) and Tampa. He hit .267 in 87 games for Charleston with two home runs and 31 RBI. In Tampa, he batted .250 in 43 games with 15 RBI.

Plumley was selected by the Yankees in the ninth round of the 2004 draft from Oral Roberts University. As a senior, he was named "Player of the Week" for the Mid-Continent Conference on two occasions. He was named 1st Team All-Conference as a junior.
