Yankees Sign Joba Chamberlain

The New York Yankees and 2006 supplemental first round pick Joba Chamberlain agreed to terms on Friday, and after passing his physical at the Yankees' minor league complex in Tampa, officially signed with the Yankees late Saturday morning.

Expected to go as high as a top ten pick overall prior to the draft, University of Nebraska right-handed pitcher Joba Chamberlain fell to the Yankees in the supplemental first round this past June.

Drafted 41st overall, Chamberlain went 6-5 with a 3.93 ERA this past season for the Cornhuskers with 102 strikeouts in just 89 1/3 innings pitched after striking out 130 batters in 118 2/3 innings and posting a 10-2 record with a 2.81 ERA a year ago.

Chamberlain will report to the Yankees' Instructional League this fall to begin workouts with the Yankees.
