Michael Waltrip wins the Busch race at Bristol

Michael passed Ron Hornaday late in the race to win the Food City 250. And would go on to win even though he experiencing some transmission problems.

Matt Kenseth also had his share of problems late in the race when he lost the power steering in his No.17 Alka-Seltzer Ford. He ended up spinning twice and would pull his car in the garage to finish 25.

Ron Hornaday went on to finish in 2nd. Ted Musgrave who was filling in for Jimmy Spencer had a strong run with a 3rd, Shane Hmiel 4th and Kevin Harvick who led the most laps finished 5th.

Martin Truex Jr. would finish 6th in the Chance 2 Chevrolet owned Dale Earnhardt Jr. His first time driving for Chance 2.

135 separate the leader and the 5th place driver in BGN. Ron Hornaday moves into 3rd in the points with his finish tonight. Leader still is Scott Riggs who finished 9th.

The fans got a small taste of flaring tempers late in the race when Winston Cup rookie Jamie McMurray hit Joey Clanton and sent him into the Turn 4 wall.

Clanton was furious and waited near the apron for McMurray to come by under caution, his helmet poised in his hands as if he was going to throw it. But as McMurray circled the track, he dipped his car down low and aimed it straight at Clanton, almost daring him to toss the helmet.

Clanton made a move to throw it, but backed off as McMurray pulled away and back onto the racing surface.

"There is going to be payback," Clanton vowed.

Nascar Supposly called McMurray to the "Red Trailer" after the race.


It was a typical night race at Bristol. 13 Caution flags. One short of Record.
