A Earnhardt back in a Richard Childress Car

Man, the sound of that sends chills up your spine doesn't it. But that is exactly what happening. Kerry Earnhardt, the elder son of the seven time Winston Cup Champion Dale Earnhardt Sr. will team up for 5 Nextel Cup Races starting at Talladega in the spring.

The deal was announced during Wednesday's media tour stop at RCR's mammoth headquarters.

Kerry will compete in the following Nextel Cup Races: April 25 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, May 22 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord for the NASCAR All-Star Challenge, July 3 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Oct. 3 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

``Dale [Sr.] and I had talked about what he wanted to do for Kerry,'' Childress said. ``He wanted to give him a great opportunity like he gave to Dale Jr.''

The Sponsorship for the car will be Bass Pro Shops.

Kerry has 65 Busch starts since 2000 with two top-five finishes, as well as one Cup start. He has four ARCA victories.

He says he has learned from past mistakes on the track

``If I try to push myself to meet the media expectations or what the fans think, I end up getting myself in trouble and wrecking and tearing up equipment,'' he said. ``My No. 1 focus is going to be to stay in the race and finish the race.

Its going to be awesome to see a Earnhardt piloting a R.C. car even though its only going to be for 5 races. I wish Richard and Kerry all the luck in the world.
